Wake Up to a New Book! (Come celebrate with me.)
If my daily writing has been characterized by anything, it’s been the theme of waking. Waking from our addictions, habits, and attachments. Waking to the Divine Love that might reorder our lives. All that writing has led to today, the day The Book of Waking Up: Experiencing the Divine Love that Reorders a Life releases!
When I put the final period on The Book of Waking Up, I called Amber. “I feel like I’ve finished a life work,” I said, and I meant it. In fact, if I never wrote another book, it’d be okay. This is the book I’ve had in me for the last five years, and it comprises a veritable library of research together with my sometimes snarky, sometimes spiritual take on the issues of sobriety.
So what is The Book of Waking Up about? It’s about discovering those habits, attachments, addictions (our coping mechanisms) we turn to when the pain comes calling. It’s about why those coping mechanisms work, the Whizz Bang rush of neurochemicals they produce, neurochemicals that keep us coming back for more. It’s about how to reorder our coping mechanisms under the Divine Love of God so that we can walk in true, inner-sobriety.
This is a book for all of us. (After all, we’re all addicted to something.)
So today, I’m asking you to order a copy of The Book of Waking Up at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Bookish (my favorite independent bookseller). Then, before you turn to social media to share, please turn to the grassroots. Invite a friend, colleague, or family member to read along with you. Ask someone in your real life, someone who can work things out with you in real-time. Then, come back tomorrow as we continue to live the examined, ordered life.
